I've felt creeping exhaustion the past few days. I don't know if it is the stress of moving, but my stomach has been very touchy for the past two weeks. I'm not entirely coherant even as I type this. If it wanders, forgive me.

Vlad borrowed the family van and truck and helped Mike and I haul things all weekend. So with his help we have assembled a large sectional sofa (mom wanted an excuse to buy herself a new leather living room set), futon, coffee and end tables, and a dining table that seats six. Vlad, who changes out stereo equipment periodically, donated his previous tuner and speakers to help us set up our sound field. Since our house is officially the entertainment house now, i.e., where the gang will gather, it was practically a REQUIREMENT that we have Surround Sound... ;)

Our Select Comfort bed (obscenely priced, but exquisite to sleep on) arrived Thursday and Friday. That is to say, 6 out of 7 boxes arrived Thursday, but a crucial part, the mattress shell, didn't arrive until Friday night. It has dual digital controls. It feels wonderful to sleep on, but it's not a bed to sit on! :) Bedroom furniture will need to include some sort of seating.

Saturday we steam-cleaned the first floor. Yes, I know that the carpet there is hideous. Very 70's. And we intend to pull it up and tile the floor instead. EVENTUALLY. :) For right now, we'd just be happy if it didn't smell like a beagle! The previous owner had an indoor dog...

Sunday Mike mowed the front lawn and I steam-cleaned the second floor. With Vlad's help, we moved more furniture.

Monday I sat at home and waited on two different cable guys, the first to install digital cable, the second to install high-speed internet access. Afterwards, I SHOULD have gone ahead and steamed the third floor, but, d*mn, I was tired, and I had a splitting headache. Instead, I spent the day on my back on the couch. I finally figured it out Monday night--no caffeine for almost two days--I was going through withdrawal.

On a side note, it's interesting to note that evidently this weekend Tedy was also going through caffeine withdrawal. He's been caffeine-free for 6 days...I can't do it cold turkey, I'll have to taper off again!

It's amazing how quickly buying the little household things to get started really adds up! And we still have major appliances to buy! (Such as washer and dryer!) Monday afternoon Mike and I went to Wal-Mart to buy a myriad of small but necessary things...ironing board, iron, soap for all the bathrooms, dish racks, serving spoons, et cetera...$100 gone in a moment! (Okay, minus $1 for two Payday bars and $10 for both a betta fish and accoutrements for his care.)

I had bought a huge brandy snifter from Wal-Mart two weeks ago for the express purpose of getting a betta. I felt ill when I saw how they were kept at Wal-Mart, in plastic cups!!!! Anyway, he's a brilliant blue. He doesn't seem to like the flakes I bought; I'll have to try to pick up some pellets and see if he likes them any better.

I moved some clothes over today and tonight is my first night in the house. The house is an executive tri-level, and the level of "moved-in-ness" decreases floor by floor. The first floor--den, hobby room, sunroom, laundry room, half-bath--are at least comfortable. The furniture is arranged willy-nilly, but you can be cozy watching television. The sound field in the den has been set up, digital cable has been installed, high-speed internet is running. Of the second floor--formal living room, dining room, kitchen, only the kitchen has stuff in it, if you don't count the two Cerwin Vega speakers sitting in the parlor. On the third floor--four bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the only furniture is the bed. But it IS a splendid bed. :) And that's where I'm headed now!
