Not that I'm complaining...
Jan. 18th, 2005 09:16 am...being the uberwired geekette that I am, but it's kinda weird...
Krystals is offering free wi-fi on my end of town, as is Taco Bell.
I dunno, it just seems a little...weird...
I'm grateful, mind you, but the concept makes my mind boggle.
I can't imagine sitting and surfing at Taco Bell with a stack of tacos next to me. And then staying on for another 30 minutes just to catch up with the latest news.
Or polishing off some cheese Krystals while I check my email. Or IM some friends.
I guess Taco Bell or Krystals aren't places I think of lingering for an extended period of time. It seems very natural at a bookstore or coffee house. These are places built for lingering. But...guys...fast food joint implies you wanna get in and get out quick. Food brothels, if you will. ;)
You wanna make a bazillion dollars in Pensacola? You build a Starbucks on the west side, near the Navy base. Add in a Krispy Kreme franchise. Then throw in wi-fi. Heck, a few thin clients for checking/sending email or browsing. Sugar and caffeine and internet access and hordes of young Navy students just a short walk/drive away. Sure-fire winner.
