Aw, crap!

One of the things I have been very careful of in the two years at my current company is to NEVER, EVER mention the extent of my programming knowledge. I have never willingly brought up any mention of Java.

Somehow, someway, I have been outted. :(

I've been asked to join the Java programming side of the house.

On one hand, it's kinda an honor. We're known for our crack team of programmers. Some of the sharpest programmers in the city work for us. And they are well-paid.

On the other, they also work INSANE hours. 100+ hours a WEEK are not unknown.

Working from home, where I can work with the TV on, wearing shorts and a t-shirt? Yeah, that was okay. Being at the office for that kind of time? No, it does not warm the cockles of my heart. I have learned to love the slacker lifestyle, coming home after 8 hours.

And I'm on the horns of a dilemma, it's the head of our company asking me to make the switch, not some mid-level supervisor, but someone who is a full VP of the entire corporation. It's not something you can really say no to.

I'm just f*cked. :(
