Whine, whine, whine.

Someone gimme some cheese to go along with that.

Truly getting moved into a place and making it home can be exhausting work, particularly when you are doing it slowly, as I am.

Every day after work, I go to the old place, pack as much as my liitle Camaro can take, drive over to the new place, unload all the stuff, place it where it needs to go, before I can relax at the end of the day. Clothes are the worst so far, bringing it in on hangers and then having to climb the stairs and take 'em up, bunches at a time.

Major stuff is moved over. It's the small stuff that's killing me! I dread tackling the books. I have a LOT of books.

Weekends I wake up early and tackle big stuff. Yesterday, Mike, Vlad and I had to go pick up the new washer/dryer. This past weekend, it was Mike, Tedy and me going to pick up a new TV (compliments of mom and dad). We had things scheduled a bit tight--our first major cookout was for that afternoon, so Mike and I were frantically assembling furniture (a/v rack and TV stand) before the guests arrived. In the midst of cooking we realized we didn't have a can opener in the entire house, so I had to make an emergency run.

It's taking its toll. I have a major sinus infection going on. Sorry to get graphic on you, but I've got Karma Chameleon colors coming out of my nose at the moment: red, gold, and green. It's so gross, and I'm compelled to look! What has the Snot Lottery turned up this time?

I'm here at work only because I'm being miserly with my leave. I'm here for a half day. I'm saving up time for Networld + Interop, DragonCon, and Disney.

Yesterday we had a cookout (we love to grill), but I was just so wiped, I spent most of my time wrapped in a comforter in a corner of the couch. Even though we had invited Pete over for steaks, HE brought the steaks and his special marinade anyway. The unfortunate part is because he surprised us, Mike and Dave were already at the grocery store shopping for steaks. Oops. So I called Mike and Dave and told 'em to come on home. Then Pete came out of the kitchen requesting French bread. So I called Mike and Dave and asked them to get some French bread. Of course, they had already left the grocery store by then and had to turn around and go back. To add insult to injury, while they were there, the grocery store had a brown-out that took down the cash registers! After waiting in line for 20 minutes with Mike, Dave lost patience, drove 5 more miles to another grocery store, bought French bread and came back to the first grocery store to find Mike STILL in line waiting. When the guys came back, they were muttering, "It was horrible! Horrible! Horrible!"

That said, it was still a wonderful meal. Pete make cucumber salad, as well as steak. A few weeks ago, Tedy had shown us a different way to cook baked potatoes on the grill, so the potatoes were fluffy and light. Dale brought a bag of salad and dressing. The corn was the only sad thing--but the corn bin was pretty picked over by the time we had bought.

We played around with fireworks. Pete inaugurated the whole thing by planting a rocket on our lush lawn and setting it off. As we stared in horror at the big black smoldering hole it left, we were quickly convinced to launch from the edge of the lawn instead. :) We were good neighbors...at least we picked up the rockets afterwards from our neighbors lawns. :) Not quite as fun as two years ago when we terrorized the free-ranging chickens at Vlad's old place, but, still, enjoyable. We had mild stuff, mostly legal -- most fireworks--except in the hands of pros--are illegal in Florida. We had a few items from across the state line, a few miles away, but nothing big... UNLIKE my neighbors two doors down....whatever THEY were launching, it was definitely NOT Florida legal, and was awfully pretty. :) At some point, I think they got bored with launching upward...from the sounds of it, they were launching at THINGS, instead.
