I'm just thinking about how sad it is that we don't have a BestBuy or CompUSA here.
It's a highlight of traveling to a large metropolitan area. It's like an alcoholic hitting the bar district. It was NOT pretty. I came, I saw, I bought.
See, yes, I have access to knowledge of cool stuff/gadgets via the media, and. yes, I can always mail order, but it's not the same as being able to hold the thing in your hands, to "commune" with it, to know whether it was really meant to be yours.
I saw the Olympus E-10. ::sigh:: I saw the Minolta DImage-7. I wiped the corners of my mouth. I had an empty Platinum Discover with me, but I forced myself to be strong. I walked away...from the digital cameras, anyway. I wasn't so fortunate with other items (software, Handspring Visor accessories, GBA games, DVDs), but at least I walked away from the big ticket items.
I really saw the shortcomings of my Olympus 2000Z digital camera this con. It's aging, been through a lot. It takes forever for the lens to extrude and be ready for shooting, and the power button is where the shutter button should be. It has a very limited zoom. When you are playing amateur papparazzi, these are bad things. Baaaaaad things. And I dream of a digital cam that actually has some decent battery life!
