Amazing.

Mike is finally home! 20 hours of driving. $187 in parking fees for his car at the airport. But the project is done and the customer is happy! And so am I!

AND my computer is up and running!

It's the CPU. I dropped the overclocking and the system is stable again. Once I've got Windows completely reinstalled again, I'll try slowly pushing the voltage and clockspeed on the CPU again. I must have lost the settings by accident at some point. I seem to remember it took quite a bit of goosing and I was reluctant to push as hard as I probably needed to when I started having problems... I'm just so stunned. For the first time in ages, all my devices are fully powered and functional, two hard drives, a CD-ROM, a CD-RW, my LiveDrive, the Zip drive, and floppy, SCSI card, network card, sound card and graphics card, and all ports. Who knew they could all co-exist? It's been so long!

I finally moved over my laser disc player from the other house. Vlad helped me get my laser disc attached to my current AV system. You're probably wondering why bother in this day of DVDs. But, hey, I've got the "Star Wars" trilogy in its original version in CAV, the big boxed set! That's reason enough to still have a laser disc player! I doubt that Lucas will ever release the untinkered with version on DVD--no, I'm pretty sure the DVD versions will have those silly novas on every explosion.

I was surprised when we powered it up (which was the first time in literally two years) to find there was a movie in the player--"The Shadow" starring Alec Baldwin. I was trying to remember why I would have bought the laser disc of such a laughably bad movie, but after watching a few minutes, I quickly remembered. Young Alec was really quite stunning in the movie, the ice blue eyes and that perfect bow of an upper lip, the same kind of mouth that mesmerizes me on David Duchovny. Besides, as bad as the movie was, the costumes and sets were great! I saw a fellow dressed as The Shadow (complete with his own Margo Lane) at DragonCon--it's a pretty good looking get-up, but WAY too hot for Atlanta weather. :)

I've got so much junk on my hard drives. I've got backups of my backup's backups!
