Joyous Occasion
Sep. 27th, 2003 12:51 amIt's always a wonderful thing when a long lost friend turns up out of the blue!
Got a call from my parents; an old buddy from my computer lab days called trying to track me down. He had left a message with his phone number, an out of state exchange. Turns out the number was his mobile phone and he was in town!
We finally met up with him at Barnes and Nobles. It was so wonderful to be in contact with him again. He had been one of our closest friends at one time; he was one of the first members of our little gang to travel with us. When he moved out of town, we saw him once or twice, but when he moved out of state, we fell out of touch for the most part. But when we saw him tonight...you know how it is when you meet up with friends of the heart...it's like they never left! It was like regaining a tiny piece of my heart that had shut down. Out of that period of my life, two or three friends fell to the wayside; we grew apart, we grew bitter or even worse, indifferent. R-r-rick and this friend...they were some of the best things I kept from that era. Older, wiser, I will make sure to keep this newly reformed connection alive. Real friends, true friends are far too precious to take for granted. It's worth the time to drop the email, to make that phonecall.
