WoW and other things

FROM YESTERDAY (Unposted)

Well, I finally dinged 59 last night. Played only very lightly afterwards, did a little questing, worked on my enchanting skills. Finally worked my enchanting up to cast the Demonslayer enchant on weapons. I know it made the weapon glow, but I had been disappointed earlier to find out the Elemental enchant produced the same glow as the Lesser Beastslayer enchant, but cost a great deal more in terms of materials needed. By way of experimentation, I cast my first Demonslayer enchant on my own weapon, a staff known as the Illusionary Rod. Omigawd, I was so thrilled. This wasn't just another red glow, this was a biiiig, showy, flaming effect! Tres cool!

Been reading about GTD ("Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" by David Allen) for a while now, not really knowing anything about it, other than a lot of the life hacking/mind hacking sites referred to it. I finally picked up the book. If anyone needs to figure out how to streamline their lives, that's Mike and I. :)

Also picked up the "Family Guy Live in Las Vegas" CD. Laughed out loud at my desk while listening through headphones. As outrageous as the show is, listening to the characters unfettered by TV censors was even more so!

Oh, yeah, had to hit the brakes hard to avoid a chicken crossing the road this afternoon.

I presume, he just wanted to get to get to the other side.

Well, it's not something you see everyday!

TODAY:

Letter "A"!!???! At the top of the alphabet, no less! We usually don't get any alerts until further down the list! But, no, follow:

Another frickin' tropical storm, expected to reach hurricane strength before landfall, is predicted to hit Mobile Bay around late Saturday. On the bright side, if it's only reaching hurricane strength by landfall, it'll probably only be a Category 1 or 2 when it hits and not have the reach (or sprawl, if you will) to hurt us tooo badly. While a Cat 2 a few years ago deposited a tree across my car hood and knocked out our power for 4 days, it was nowhere near the intensity of Ivan, where I wondered if I was going to lose the house. ::sigh:: Rest assured, I have a good supply of bottled water, MREs and a gas-powered generator this time around. I need to lay in a fresh supply of batteries, and I'll be set.

Crap I have to listen to: the village idiot's wife says she thinks we're being targeted by God because of the big GLBT Memorial Day weekend party on the beach that happens every year. Wow, you'd think San Francisco, Orlando, and Miami would be higher up on the Almighty's hit list, in that case.

Weird stuff going on here on base today. Helicopter with its doors open is circling above; we've had some car searches. There are jets in the air, doing sweeps. Some high-up muckety-muck? We hear GWB is in the Midwest today, so it's not the Prez.

Speaking of which, a scary guy buttonholed me in line at McDonald's this morning, on a rant about George Bush, how he was right all along about what a liar and scoundrel GWB was... Now, I agree 100%, but it was scary to see a lefty as wild-eyed as some of the tighty-righties that scream on the street corners in town.

Tropical Storm Arlene

Cabo San Antonia, Cuba has a 60% probability of being hit by TS Arlene on her way in. Mobile and Pensacola are tied at the highest probabilities for coastal landfall at 21%. Roll the dice, flip the coin. The waters of the Gulf are particularly warm at the moment, in the 80s, so it's definitely going to strengthen. It's looking more like Sunday morning for landfall.
