WoW talk...feel free to skip
Jul. 20th, 2005 12:15 pmMore for my own historical notation than being of any interest to anyone else, last night, on my 9th run of Upper Black Rock Spire (UBRS), Magister's Robe, the mage chest piece, finally dropped off General Drakkisath, the boss dragon at the end. Nine runs...each taking anywhere between 1:45 to 2:30 hours...approximately 20 hours of my life...spent in pursuit of this robe... It was my goal to run UBRS until I got the chest piece, and now on to the next. I only have 2 of the 8 pieces, but the chest was the most important. That being said, it's kinda sad that it's not THAT much better than the mooncloth robe I was wearing. I get 5 more intelligence points, but at the cost of stamina and spirit. By putting the +3 to all stats enchant, I can bring the numbers on stamina and spirit back up to the mooncloth robe levels, but it is kinda sad that I have to make that kind of sacrifice on something that's suppose to be one of the highest endgame mage robes. Also, while Magister's Robe is better looking than the orange and green placeholder graphic monstrosity before the first major patch, it's still one of the uglier endgame sets--a gaudy red and purple robe with gold trim. You should see the full get-up. You've got this Dracula-style collar and ridiculously large shoulder pieces. WoW gives you the option to hide your helm and cloak...wish you could hide the shoulder pieces as well! Devout and Dreadmist, the priest and warlock epic sets respectively, are gorgeous and understated. Devout is white with a blue shimmer to it, good looking set. Dreadmist is a light purple with darker purple designs, a dignified set.
