Belated Happy Anniversary
Nov. 15th, 2006 11:50 pmAh, one month and 2 days since I got laid off. I'm still on furlough. Hoping to hear about one job. Got a number to call about another. And if all else fails, I wait it out until mid-December when my company will have a contract for me to charge against.
I realized I haven't done squat while at home. The day I got laid off, I crocheted 3/4 of a shrug. You'd think it'd be done by now, but, no, I've barely worked on it. I just finished reading my first book. I have stripped 3/4 of a wall in my washroom - I'll finish it tomorrow. What have I done? Well, been depressed, had a headcold, watched some TV, finally got my 3rd character to 60 in WoW, caught up on "House," "Dexter," "Heroes," and "Veronica Mars," cashed out one of my 401Ks so I could continue to pay the bills for the foreseeable future, paid this month's bills, and that's about it. I've gotten one week's unemployment so far, a whopping $245 after taxes. I'm hoping to get my second ever unemployment check, this time for 2 weeks - $490, presumably.
Sleeping terribly. One night I stayed up to 3:30 AM, woke up at 6:30 AM, and that was it, couldn't get back to sleep. Sometimes I sleep longer, but I usually feel pretty ragged whether I sleep 3 hours or 12 hours.
On the bright side, lost some weight. Don't know why, maybe the stress of being unhappy at work was greater than the stress of being unemployed. But got into a smaller size of jeans and can actually put on one of my interview suits and not look like a stuffed sausage.
