Juxtaposition

Saw Batman this afternoon (well, technically, yesterday afternoon).  I was completely blown away.  It felt completely right, the whole noir feel was completely carried out from beginning to end.  I was wondering if they could sustain it, and, wow, they did.  It was so dark as to be ultraviolet. 

Much has been said of Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, but for me, it was an ensemble; Ledger's Joker would not have been possible without Bale's Batman anchoring the performance.

I admit, I actually had tears streaming down my face during the final voiceover.  Once again, I'm watching a show where they shove it in your face, "Life ain't fair.  Good guys aren't always rewarded."

What a companion piece to the fact I had just finished watching Act III of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," which I also thought was impressive!  Back to back, two shows that end on a downer...
