Evidently I missed the "Build an ark" memo. The rain has been torrential. Pensacola's notoriously bad drainage means the ditches and retaining ponds are overflowing. I forded the first flooded intersection on base; the water was a third of the way up my door. I was turned away at the second intersection by the base police. There were already three cars stuck in the flood, with the water almost to their windows. On the way home, the Elk's ball field was completely underwater. And it's still raining. From what I understand, depending on where you were in the area, you got 4 to 8 inches of rain the first hour.

So I'm working at home and finally the sun has made an experience. Evidently, somewhere a dove has produced an olive branch, eh?

The first view of the sun after a long shower is always a nice experience.

I'm glad Mother Nature chose to dump somewhere other than here for a change.

Remember to save some lumber for a raft just in case the dove isn't sighted!

Hee - I saw a cartoon this morning and in it a guy was peering over a cliff and far below him he could see the animals going it two by two - into a flying saucer.

Glad the sun made an experience for you today.

That's an old Gahan Wilson cartoon. The man is/was a twisted genius.

Hmmm. Just looked again and it's unsigned, but having looked at some Gahan Wilsons' online, I don't think it's in his style. It was just part of the funnies in my small-town's newspaper, so it's probably either a rip-off or a case of the same idea occurring to another cartoonist.
