I went for my follow-up sleep study on 9/5/06. This time I just had to take pictures. I had 16 or 18 (I can't quite remember) sensors stuck to me, most on my head, some on my chest to detect breathing, and one on each shin, to detect REM sleep, teeth grinding, snoring, restless leg syndrome, et cetera. Oh, yeah, and there was also a clip on one finger that tracked pulse and oxygen levels. I missed the picture of the CPAP device itself, but it consisted of a clear triangular piece with air cushions that fit over my nose and had simply monstrous black straps that kept in in place. A hose attached to the nose piece leading to a small machine with a canister of water that kept a stream of moist air blowing into my nose. It made exhaling an effort. But I must admit, despite being awakened at 5:00 AM, I felt better than I have in a while.
